Matt Wesley is a choreographer, resident director and associate choreographer creating bold, story-led movement for theatre, pantomime, live events, TV and film. He is a dynamic and diverse choreographer who can adapt quickly across styles, from classic musical theatre storytelling to high-energy commercial work. The goal is always the same: choreography that feels right for the project, serves the story, and connects with the audience.

Matt trained at Arts Educational, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. He began his career as a performer on some of the UK’s best-known stages, appearing in major productions including Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Chicago, The Bodyguard and South Pacific. Alongside theatre, he worked across concerts, commercial and broadcast projects. That performer background still shapes how he creates today. He understands what it takes to deliver choreography consistently, keep energy up across long runs, and protect both standards and morale in the room.

As a choreographer and director, Matt is known for a calm, practical, collaborative approach. He builds work that performers can commit to fully, while keeping the bigger picture in mind for the production team. He also tailors choreography to the format. What works on stage needs to read clearly from every seat. What works for TV and film needs precision, detail and camera awareness. What works for live events needs impact, pace and repeatability. Matt’s job is to make sure the movement fits the space, the schedule, and the audience, without losing the heartbeat of the piece.

Matt continues to develop work across theatre and entertainment, while also delivering high-end workshops and masterclasses for dance studios across the country. These sessions give students the chance to learn professional choreography and performance skills directly from working industry creatives, with a focus on musicality, style, and performance quality.
